About this policy
This Privacy Policy explains how PARA WORKS PRIVATE LIMITED, referred to as “Para Works”, “we”, “us” or “our”, collects, receives, uses, stores, shares and otherwise processes personal data when you access or use the Ting mobile application, the Ting website and related services.
Ting is provided as a software-as-a-service platform. This Privacy Policy applies to individuals who use Ting and, where Ting is used on behalf of a company, body corporate, partnership firm, LLP, proprietorship, association, trust or other organisation (“Organisation”), to the relevant authorised users and personal data processed in connection with that use.
By accessing or using Ting, you acknowledge this Privacy Policy. Where applicable law requires consent for a particular processing activity, we will obtain consent through an appropriate notice, consent mechanism or device permission before carrying out that processing.
This Privacy Policy should be read together with the Ting Terms and Conditions.
Information We Handle
Information You Provide
Depending on how you use Ting, we may collect or receive information such as your name, phone number, profile or business details, language or accessibility preferences, Organisation, staff or team information where you use relevant Ting features, and information you provide when you contact us or request support.
Where you use Ting on behalf of an Organisation, you are responsible for ensuring that you have the necessary rights, permissions and authority to provide information relating to the Organisation, its personnel or other individuals.
Payment Notification Information
With the relevant device permission, Ting may use Android notification access to identify eligible payment notifications and provide spoken payment alerts and related features. Depending on the notification received and the functionality being used, this may include the payment amount, date and time, payment status or message, source payment application, transaction or reference information contained in the notification, and other limited notification text reasonably required to identify, record or provide the relevant Ting functionality.
Ting processes such notification information to provide its notification-based features, including spoken alerts, payment history, totals and reports.
Ting does not ask for or require your UPI PIN, bank password, debit or credit card PIN, internet banking password, MPIN or similar payment authentication credentials. Ting does not receive, hold, route, transfer or settle your customers’ money.
Ting's processing of payment notification information does not mean that Ting processes or verifies the underlying payment transaction.
App, Device and Diagnostic Information
We may process technical information relating to the device and application used to access Ting, including device or technical identifiers, app version, operating system and relevant device settings, notification and permission status, crash reports, performance and diagnostic logs, network and connectivity information, and security-related information.
We use this information to operate Ting, diagnose technical issues, maintain reliability, improve performance and security, and prevent misuse.
Subscription Information
When you purchase a Ting subscription, the relevant app store, payment provider or other third-party payment service provider may process the subscription payment. We may receive limited information relating to the subscription, such as the subscription plan, transaction or purchase reference, subscription status, purchase or renewal date, expiry or cancellation status, and country or other limited information made available by the relevant provider.
We do not receive your full payment credentials from the app store or payment provider merely because you purchase a Ting subscription. Subscription payments for Ting are separate from any payment transactions between you, your customers or other parties that may be reflected in payment notifications received by Ting.
Website Information
When you visit the Ting website, we or our hosting, security or other service providers may process basic technical information such as your IP address, browser type, device type, pages or resources requested, date and time of requests, and technical or security logs.
We do not sell or rent personal data collected through the website or use it to create third-party advertising profiles.
How We Use Information
We process personal data for legitimate purposes connected with providing, operating, securing and improving Ting. This includes identifying eligible payment notifications and providing spoken payment alerts; maintaining payment history, totals, reports and other features you choose to use; providing team, staff and shared-device functionality where enabled; creating and managing accounts, devices and settings; managing subscriptions and related support; responding to questions and grievances; diagnosing technical issues and improving the reliability and performance of Ting; detecting, preventing and investigating fraud, misuse, security incidents and unauthorised access; maintaining business, technical, security and audit records; complying with applicable legal, regulatory, tax, accounting and other lawful obligations or requests; establishing, exercising or defending our legal rights; and sending service-related communications and, where permitted by applicable law and with any required consent, product updates, information or offers.
You may review or withdraw device permissions through Android settings. Withdrawal of a required permission may limit or prevent certain Ting features from functioning.
Retention and Deletion
We retain personal data only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including to provide and maintain Ting, maintain security and technical records, provide customer support, resolve disputes, enforce our agreements, comply with legal, tax, accounting and regulatory requirements, and establish, exercise or defend legal rights.
Retention periods may differ depending on the nature of the information and the purpose for which it is processed. Information may continue to be retained for a limited period in protected backups, security records, fraud-prevention records or audit logs.
When personal data is no longer required, we will delete it or otherwise make it no longer identifiable, unless applicable law requires or permits us to retain it for a longer period.
You may request deletion of personal data by contacting us using the details set out below. Some information may need to be retained where required or permitted by applicable law, including for legal, tax, security, fraud-prevention or dispute-resolution purposes.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal data against unauthorised access, loss, misuse, alteration or disclosure. Depending on the nature of the information and the relevant service, these measures may include access controls, encryption where appropriate, authentication controls, logging and monitoring, security testing and restricted access by service providers and personnel.
No application, transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your device, account credentials and access to Ting. We recommend keeping your device locked, using appropriate device security measures, installing relevant software and security updates, and notifying us promptly if you believe your Ting account or device has been compromised.
Your Choices and Rights
Subject to applicable law, you may have rights relating to your personal data, including the right to request information about personal data we process, request correction of inaccurate or incomplete personal data, request deletion or erasure of personal data where applicable, withdraw consent where processing is based on consent, raise a grievance regarding the processing of your personal data, and exercise any right to nominate another person or any other right available under applicable law.
You may also control certain device-level permissions through Android settings, including notification access and relevant speech, audio or other permissions. You can manage your Ting subscription and renewal through the purchase channel used to subscribe. Withdrawing a required device permission, withdrawing consent where applicable, or deleting information may limit or disable certain Ting features.
We may need to verify your identity or authority before acting on a request. We may refuse or limit a request where permitted or required by applicable law and, where appropriate, will provide an explanation.
Where you use Ting on behalf of an Organisation, certain requests relating to information processed in connection with the Organisation may need to be made through the Organisation or in accordance with the applicable contractual or legal arrangement.
Children
Ting is a business and productivity tool intended for persons who are 18 years or older and is not directed towards children. You must not create an account or use Ting if you are under 18 or are otherwise legally unable to enter into a binding agreement.
If we become aware that personal data relating to a child has been provided to us without the necessary authority or in circumstances where applicable law does not permit its processing, we will take reasonable steps to address the situation, including deletion where appropriate.
Third-Party Services
Ting operates alongside third-party services, which may include Android and other device operating systems, payment applications, banks and payment service providers, payment gateways and payment processors, app stores and application distribution platforms, hosting and cloud service providers, and other third-party applications or services used by you or your Organisation.
These third parties operate independently of Para Works and may have their own terms, privacy policies, permissions and practices. Para Works does not control the privacy practices, availability, security, functionality or performance of third-party services.
Where you or your Organisation uses a third-party payment application, payment aggregator, payment gateway, payment processor, bank or other payment service, that service remains subject to the terms and requirements applicable to that service. Ting's spoken or displayed payment alert is an informational convenience and is not a substitute for the payment record, account statement or other authoritative transaction record maintained by the relevant payment application, bank or payment service provider.
Processing Locations and Transfers
Para Works and its service providers may process personal data in India or in other countries in which they operate or provide services.
Where personal data is transferred or processed outside India, we will take the measures required by applicable law and use appropriate contractual, technical or organisational safeguards, as applicable to the relevant transfer and processing activity.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to Ting or its features, our data-processing practices, third-party services, applicable law or regulatory requirements, or our security and operational practices.
We will publish the updated Privacy Policy on the Ting website or through the relevant Ting application and update the effective date.
Where a change materially affects your rights or materially changes how we process personal data, we will provide additional notice or obtain consent where required by applicable law.
